Lot description:

Judaea, Askalon(?) Æ 11mm. Pseudo-autonomous issue. Temp. Augustus, 27 BCE - 14 CE. Male head to right / Caduceus between crossed cornucopiae. Cf. RPC I 4876B = Sofaer 48. 0.81g, 11mm, 5h.

Very Fine. Extremely Rare.

This coin is of differing style to the RPC/Sofaer example and the A-Σ is not visible on the reverse. However as there is only one example to compare against it seems possibly that as it is of the same design, this coin simply comes from unpublished dies for this extremely rare type.

Estimate: 75 GBP
